Welcome

May 29, 2018 Posted by Admin

Hello Brothers,

I hope the spring is going well so far for everyone.

The St. Louis Alumni Chapter would like to congratulate all of our graduating Deltasigs in the class of 2018. And now the fun starts. We’ll gladly do all we can to make your transition into the job force a smooth one.

A good first step would be to introduce yourself to us – we recently announced that our Summer Meeting and Elections will be held on Wednesday, June 13th at Guido’s Pizzeria and Tapas on The Hill. We’ll gather at 6pm and begin ritual at 6:30.

As mentioned, our annual elections will be held, so if anyone is interested in running for an executive board position (the full list and descriptions can be found HERE), please let me know. We’d love to see new faces get involved in the chapter.

A big topic of discussion will be SLAC’s participation (for the 32nd straight year) at Fair Saint Louis, to run a beverage booth. We’ve been assigned Saturday, July 7th.

We will need volunteers (age 21 or older only) all day. The shift times will be:

  • 10am – 12pm (Set-up)
  • 12pm – 5pm
  • 5pm – 11pm

As always, these are not hard slots; we’d love to have you downtown with us for as much time that you can spare. Anyone who has volunteered in the past knows that the night shift is very, very important to our success. All hours worked will be totaled, and profits + tips will be divided among the alumni and undergrads accordingly.

Please contact Nathan Christen at nchristen298@gmail.com with your availability, or if you have any questions. I look forward to hearing from each and every brother available.

And in case you missed it, Delta Sigma Pi is digitizing past editions of The DELTASIG as part of an online archive. SLAC, based upon the initial efforts of brothers Lou Maull and Matt Hudson, reached an agreement to make a donation towards the cost of resources necessary to digitize the Fraternity’s historical publications.

Based on the chapter’s authorization at our winter 2016 chapter meeting, I and the executive board agreed to the total and presented our check to the Fraternity in late July. Here’s a little more detailed excerpt from the national website:

Eighty-five volumes of the magazine were dropped off in July to NPC, Inc. Integrated Print & Digital Solutions in Claysburg, Pennsylvania. NPC also prints The DELTASIG magazine. They will use a v-shaped scanner to archive approximately 12,370 pages. Once complete, users will be able search through stories dating back to 1921. This project would not be possible without the support of the St. Louis Alumni Chapter.

Thank you to our membership for being supportive of this donation, as well as your hard work throughout the years for us to be in this position financially. This was a very cool opportunity to give back to the fraternity in such a beneficial way.
